The King Cobra is the last version of Colt's "J" frame revolver that started with the Trooper Mark 3 of 1969. The Trooper Mk 3/King Cobra was to be Colt's "budget" priced gun. The Mark III/King Cobra revolver is a TOTALLY different firearm then the Python. The Colt Trooper Mark III/Mark V/King Cobra is "different". It doesn't feel at all like a Python, but it doesn't feel like a S&W either. It has a distinct feel all it's own. Quality and accuracy was always about a step above just about everything other than a Python.
